Colour Analysis is the process of discovering a palette of colours that harmonize with your skin, personality and eyes in a controlled environment. Colour analysis was developed through colour theory. My Glow-Up Colours uses a structured and methodical approach during the 2.5 hour in-person session.

NS’s analysis revealed he has two seasons with his primary colour palette being Spring.
Keeping the process objective, the outcome will lead to a colour palette that shows how they work in harmony with your natural features. We look to identify the most attractive shades, tints and tones that are working for you including make-up. The outcome reveals how best to use colour within your existing wardrobe of clothes and, ways to introduce new items that makes getting dressed an exciting and enjoyable experience.
NS said: “Excited to go shopping with the colours that suit me. I will feel more confident + understand what colours work for me. A fantastic overall experience, 10/10 with My Glow-Up Colours.”

What is a ‘seasonal colour palette’ and why do you use this term?

Early image of the colour wheel – Itten Johnson
There are many individuals in our history who contributed towards colour theory but a recognizable innovation was the colour wheel. It was created by Itten Johnson (a Swiss-born painter and art theorist). He developed a course to teach students the basics of color theory in the1920’s. Through this innovation, he taught learners about cool and warm aspects of colour.
As time passed on, so did colour theory. It became well established in Art schools and was used by interior design professions. In the 1980’s, colour theory branched into Colour Analysis to consider how people held cool and/or warm tones to their skin and features but more importantly, how colour could create harmony and a natural glow to the individuals appearance.
People began to feel confident wearing colours that always made them look youthful and natural; drawing attention to their features and skin tone, once their most flattering colours were identified through Colour Analysis.
Interestingly, the colours identified in people were also present in the colour palette of the four seasons – spring, summer, autumn and winter. This is where ‘seasonal’ colour palettes comes from.
Can a person be more than one season?
Yes. Each person is unique and, it is possible to have more than one or even two season/s. Equally, it is possible for people within families to be very similar or very different in seasonal palettes.
There is no way of knowing what a persons colour palette or season is, without completing a colour analysis and, a good analyst will not try to guess your seasonal palette without a full assessment. This is because your unique personality, eyes and skin tones can produce a combination of colours you can wear that may not be so obvious to you.
Can a person’s colour season change?
No and yes. In most cases, a person’s skin colour doesn’t change but they can fade as we age. Our hair colour and features can adjust over time. It is possible that a person’s season doesn’t change at all but in other cases, a person’s palette may soften. This is the reason for people requesting a fresh or revised colour analysis every 10 years or so.
If an individual experiences significant health issues &/or takes medication, the colour of the person’s skin can be affected, resulting in a change of season. In the main, this change is temporary. My Glow-Up Colours will make provisions for health matters that impact a persons palette. We offer a free analysis 3-6 months later in these circumstances.

After HH’s Colour Analysis, she was much clearer about her colour palette. She’s a summer primary & autumn secondary. An unusual but harmonizing mix.
Can anyone do a colour analysis on me?
The simple answer is No.
Colour is powerful and, for some people the change in appearance can make a significant difference to a person’s health, well-being and confidence/self-esteem (see ‘The power of Colour’ page for examples). For this reason, it is important to see a trained and qualified Colour Analyst.
A controlled environment plus a skilled Colour Analyst provides the highest quality of analysis to identify your season(s) or palette of colours.
Most people have a colour they know they looks great on them however, the vast majority of people don’t wear the full spectrum of colours available to them because, they just don’t know they can. This is where My Glow-Up Colours can help.
Colour analysis in action
The photograph of this beautiful woman (right) found that she has a rare colour palette or mix of seasons which would have been difficult for her to assess without a My Glow-Up Colours analysis. She knew she looked great in grey and her wardrobe reflected that (around 90%) but, she didn’t know that she could wear a much wider variety of colours until she had experienced an analysis in person.
HH Said: “I will be braver in selecting colours from my season or incorporating then with an outfit. Colour Analysis will benefit me by helping me select colour which makes me look/feel more youthful. Overall, my experience of colour analysis with My Glow-Up Colours was excellent.”
