Colour can impact our well-being, have symbolic cultural significance and contribute towards play and creativity. From gardening to cars, make-up to interior design, we use colour in almost every aspect of our lives, everyday.
A powerful way to use colour is in what we wear. Through a Glow-Up Colour Analysis, you can select clothes, accessories and make-up that harmonize with your natural features and beauty.
Some examples of how colour can impact the way we look are found in these well known celebrities.
This celebrity is beautiful but, the colours of her outfit (on the left) are giving the obvious appearance of an orange tone to the skin.
In the right photograph, the shades of purple are working really well for her. The make-up choice is quite different but looks really lovely. She glows in these simple but bold colours.
The left photo of this actor has been dressed in colours most likely to represent a character. He appears to look more mature than he actually is.
It is easy to see how the colours in the photo on the right, brightens and clears the actors complexion. There is a natural glow to his skin. There is an energy in his look.
A dark coloured lipstick and black dress can look striking but, for this actor, the look is out of harmony with the individuals overall features and persona.
Compared against the photo on the right, she radiates in this soft green floral dress and delicate make-up. Her personality and features (including hair), are reflected in the fabric and make-up choice, creating an overall natural glow and harmonious appearance.
Another stunning model/actor who more often than not looks phenomenal in her choice of clothes. This rare picture of her in the left photo shows how the colour of her dress and make-up underperform against her skin tone.
The green dress in the right picture however, is doing a great job of bringing out her best features. Her eyes pop and her skin appears to glow.
In this mustard colour, the actor appears to look more mature. He achieved the look by wearing a colour to create ‘heaviness’ that darkens his features. The fitted jumper (with his arms folded) does the job to draw the eye towards his shoulders and chest area.
The blue suit in the right photo is working really well for him and, deciding on a monochromatic palette was a great choice. Wearing a shiny shirt in almost the same colour, peeking through the blazer, adds dimension, interest and fun. His face appears to be lifted with a youthful glow.
There are situations when we are not sure how to approach the clothes in our wardrobe and make-up in our bags, especially when we have strong features. Wearing the wrong or right colours can have a huge impact on our overall appearance. The model/actor shown in both photos couldn’t be more extreme and, helps us to see quite obviously how the colours are and are not working for her.
The left photo shows her wearing a bold lipstick and dark eye make-up. How different does the same person look in the right photo? The gold top and fairly light make-up is worn effortlessly in what is a very simple look. It’s hard to notice the glow in her skin, the brightness in her eyes and even the tones in her hair!
